+ Cereal Box Makeover
This morning I saw a commercial for a new Kellogg's program called Nutrition At A Glance. They've added Guideline Daily Amounts (GDAs) to the front of their cereal boxes to help consumers easily locate key nutrition information. From the Kellogg's website:
I really enjoy the discussion about this promotion over at Marion Nestle's site, What To Eat. The comments express both positive and negative sides of Kellogg's work:
"Life is full of handbooks and manuals that can help us use products or navigate life's choices, but if they become 'out of sight, out of mind,' you miss out on putting that information into practice."It's as simple as moving the nutrition facts from the side of the box to the front, but this is a great example of how trends in health and wellness are influencing marketing approaches.
I really enjoy the discussion about this promotion over at Marion Nestle's site, What To Eat. The comments express both positive and negative sides of Kellogg's work:
"Wouldn’t it make your life easier explaining to your child you can only buy cereals with green dots? And to stay away from anything red?"
"I would argue the the majority of people in the Western world have been grossly *overeducated* about their food and diet and it isn’t working out well at all. They have no 'horse sense' about food anymore and are very confused about what is healthy and what isn’t."
